What are Guilt and Shame issues?
Guilt and shame have the potential to be extremely harmful to our mental well-being. They may cause us to feel like we aren't good enough or that we've done something wrong. This can lead to feelings of self-loathing and sadness.
Guilt is a feeling of remorse or regret for something we have done. Shame is a feeling of humiliation or disgrace for something we have done. The Key difference between the two being that Shame is about one's identity, for example, I am a bad person for what I have done.
When might it be time to get help with my shame or guilt?
It might be time to get help with your shame or guilt if you feel like you are not able to move on from what happened or if it's impacting your daily life. Shame and guilt can be paralyzing and keep us stuck in unhealthy behaviours or thoughts, so it's important to get professional help if they're negatively impacting your life.
